Licenses & Acknowledgements

PortWin is built on free and open-source projects. Here is what the app includes, under which terms, and where to get the source code.

Source code offer

Wine, GStreamer, GnuTLS and several other components are licensed under the GNU LGPL or GPL. Their source code is available at the links below. If you cannot find the source for a component as shipped in PortWin, write to kukalab@icloud.com and we will provide it. This offer is valid for three years after each PortWin release.

PortWin does not modify these components: it uses them as built by the projects linked below (“this build”). They are stored as separate files inside the app (PortWin.app/Contents/Resources/Engine and Tools), so you can replace them with your own builds.

What is not included

Apple’s D3DMetal (Game Porting Toolkit) is not part of PortWin. If you want it for DirectX 12 games, you download it yourself from Apple and connect it in PortWin, under Apple’s license terms.
